Glasgow artificial intelligence firm closes £ 600,000 investment round


A GLASGOW-based artificial intelligence (AI) company has closed a £ 600,000 investment round to support its growth.

Digital talent market, Gigged.AI, are using the investment to double their team from seven to 14 colleagues, with a focus on building their sales and customer success teams.

The tech start-up will also invest in developing its technology for future product launches, as it targets growth in the talent platform industry.

The funding was led by venture capital firm Techstart Ventures with additional investments from other UK tech industry leaders, who will now form a new Gigged.AI advisory board.

They include company president John Brodie and Warwick Beresford-Jones, co-founders of Aquila Insight; Nick Jones, co-founder of the Zumo cryptocurrency wallet; and Grant Fraser, co-founder and CEO of Digitonic.

The company’s AI-powered technology is transforming the search for tech talent in the gig economy by giving employers and on-demand talent a way to connect and work together in the post-Covid-19 economy .

Gigged.AI has developed unique algorithms that minimize geographic bias to match the most relevant on-demand talent to a specific statement of work.

The algorithms are supposed to cut onboarding time by six weeks and allow projects to be delivered faster and on budget.

Gigged.AI was founded by CEO Rich Wilson, a former senior executive at Gartner, and CTO Craig Short.

Last April, Gigged.AI received a grant from Innovate UK’s Sustainable Innovation Fund to further develop its technology.
