NITDA seeks input on National Artificial Intelligence Policy
The growth of artificial intelligence (AI) can be attributed to digital innovation and the evolution of technology. Globally, countries are grappling with ways to manage the exponential growth of new and emerging technologies to advance their economies.
Recognizing the exponential growth and potential value of digital technologies, which is in line with President Muhammad Buhari, GCFR’s vision to diversify the Nigerian economy using digital technologies, the President launched the National Policy and Strategy Digital Economy (NDEPS), developed by the Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy (FMoCDE), to reposition the Nigerian economy and take advantage of the many opportunities offered by these digital technologies.
It is in this context that the Honorable Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Ali Ibrahim, instructs the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) to develop a national policy on the artificial intelligence (PNIA). The development of the NAIP is envisioned to maximize benefits, mitigate potential risks, and resolve some of the complexities attributed to the use of AI in our day-to-day operations.
Furthermore, it will provide guidance on how Nigeria can leverage AI, including the development, use and adoption of AI to proactively facilitate Nigeria’s development towards a digital economy. sustainable.
