Optx Appoints Steve Bright as New VP of Data Science

Casino software company Optx has tapped veteran data scientist Steve Bright, expecting a “bright future”.

The Las Vegas-based vendor was “pleased to welcome” Bright to its team, who has taken on the role of vice president of Data Science.

In this role, he will oversee the design and development of new artificial intelligence (AI) features for Optx’s data modules, among other responsibilities.

Optx uses data intelligence to glean real-time insights into customer behavior and create “actionable recommendations” for casino operators.

In the vendor’s own words, this “allows teams to spend less time compiling data and more time implementing strategies that increase visits, revenue, and profitability.”

Bright will now support Optx’s data science team, which is central to the company’s work. But such a heavy responsibility may well rest on the shoulders of the new vice-president.

Prior to joining Optx, Bright worked as a data scientist in many different industries and published over 30 papers in various fields including experimental high energy physics and pharmacovigilance, otherwise known as drug safety.

The appointee also has experience applying data science to the gaming industry, having previously used machine learning algorithms to predict and optimize slot machine performance.

During his career, Bright has worked for several major brands, inside and outside the gaming industry, including Nike and IGT, where he was employed as a data scientist from 2015 to 2017 and from 2012 to 2015 respectively.

Bright holds a BS in Physics from Georgia University of Technology and earned his MS and PhD in Physics from the University of Chicago.
