New Delhi, Union Minister Jitendra Singh said on Friday that emerging technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), augmented reality (AR), blockchain, drones, internet of things (IoT), robotics, 3D printing and virtual reality (VR) are going to have a huge impact on all aspects of life, including governance. Chairing an advisory committee meeting on Vision [email protected], organized by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), he said, managing capacity resources is going to present a huge challenge for India as that the country is preparing a roadmap for 25 years of travel ahead. He said, however, that it is difficult to visualize the exact shape of India that will emerge in 25 years, but one thing is certain that when independent India turns 100, it will be the technological and economic powerhouse of the world. .

Singh said that several initiatives, policies, projects and programs over the past 8 years of Modi government have contributed to the dawning of a new India and the emergence of “Atma Nirbhar Bharat”, but there are challenges on many fronts that require innovative solutions.

Calling for an integrated approach to problem solving, the minister stressed the need to increase trust and reduce conformity for the “ease of living” for the common man.

Singh said that as we formulate the governance vision, “climate change and disaster management” must become a key pillar in the training of civil servants.

Visualizing the role of artificial intelligence for disaster management, the minister informed that a mega science mission on climate research will soon be unveiled.

He said new opportunities and challenges will continue to emerge and therefore officials should be prepared to seize initiatives at the right time.

Singh said that to bring citizens and government together, digital institutions must be created.

He also emphasized ethics in the delivery of public services and visualized that in the years to come, technology will propel a model of governance by citizens.

The minister said that the government has tried to ensure that digital infrastructure is a basic public service for every citizen by providing a single digital identity, access to common service centers and has provided thousands of services to demand through seamless integration of services across departments/ministries.

V Srinivas, Secretary, DARPG, informed that in 2021, the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances endeavored to adopt the whole-of-government approach by implementing three critical campaigns aimed at deepening administrative reforms.
